Club Practice
The St Charles Paddles on Wednesday Evenings and most Saturday Mornings. All kayak and canoe experience levels are welcome to join us for the paddle. We will split off in groups that are speed matched. Don't have a boat? Contact us as we have a couple of club boats available. Never been paddling? We can help you get started. Wednesday Night (Evening) Paddle (Practice)
SUMMER (During Paddling Season) NEW PADDLERS ARE WELCOME!!!
Our group training season starts as soon as we change our clocks for "daylight savings time". We meet at Ferson Creek Park (check map location to the side). We try to meet for our practices at 5:00pm and launch at 5:30pm sharp.
The seasoned paddlers travel upstream and back 7 to 9 miles during a workout, practicing wake riding, starts, proper technique and generally building a strong base of endurance. While our newcomers will either stay right in front of the launch site or begin to travel upstream with a veteran team at their side. We believe the camaraderie of a club, with group practices is often what creates the greatest athletes, not to mention great friends.
On the 3rd Wednesday of the month (meeting night - DURING PADDLING SEASON) we do our best to return by about 7:00pm! Immediately after practice we go to a predetermined restaurant and have a quick meeting while we eat and enjoy each others company. Please note that the purchased dinners and drinks are the responsibly of each members themselves!
Saturday Morning Paddle
The Club will paddle most Saturdays at Ferson Creek Park. The meeting time varies, it us usually between 8AM and 9AM. Sometimes it is later in the off season since we are waiting for the temperature to warm up. Sometimes we don't meet at Ferson Creek because will paddle at another location. Other Saturdays we will paddle different boats, such as surf ski day or K2 day. We send out the details for the meeting time for Saturday using the WhatsApp on the club group.
